Adolescent girls and boys in underserved communities across India face deep-rooted barriers at a pivotal stage in their lives: limited access to education, poor menstrual and general health awareness, harmful gender norms, mental health pressures, and little agency in decision-making. Many leave school early, experience forced adulthood—whether by earning, marriage, or parenting—and lack the life skills to protect themselves or pursue their dreams. These compounding challenges not only threaten their present, but also lock families and communities into cycles of vulnerability, inequality, and missed potential. Without comprehensive support, millions of young people struggle to break free and build healthy, empowered lives.
Tarunya aims to break this cycle by empowering adolescent boys and girls through education, healthcare, and life skills development. The program provides practical tools and knowledge so that every adolescent can make informed choices, stay healthy, and contribute positively to their communities.
