The journey of Vidhyabharti Foundation began with a simple act of compassion on the streets of Ahmedabad. Witnessing children begging at traffic signals and growing up on footpaths, Hareshbhai and Jeetaben Trivedi were deeply moved by the realities faced by those born into poverty. Their shared vision was clear — every child deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope through education.
Registered on 15th December 2005 under The Bombay Public Trust Act, At Vidhyabharti Foundation, we believe that education is the most powerful tool to transform lives. Since 2005, we have worked tirelessly to bring meaningful education, life skills, and cultural pride to underprivileged children across Gujarat.
Starting in Ahmedabad, our initiatives soon extended to support children in impoverished neighborhoods and rural areas. Initially providing basic education on footpaths, we have since expanded on setting up community education centers in weaker section colonies and urban slums in 2013 -14 like SAVERA. In 2015–16, we further expanded through the Learning Enrichment Program (LEP) in government primary schools, now supporting 20 institutions across Sanand, Kutch, and Bharuch districts. Building on this foundation, we introduced the Tarunya Adolescents Empowerment program last year, which has already grown to benefit students in 25 government schools.
Our work is rooted in patience, resilience, and a deep belief that real change takes time—but it’s always worth it.
Vidhyabharti is committed to nurturing holistic development, creating a positive societal impact, and unlocking the full potential of underprivileged children through values-based education, transformative experiences, and support for higher education, enabling their journey towards a promising future.
Haresh Trivedi and Jeetaben Trivedi’s journey toward social transformation began not just as a response to what they saw, but from who they were. Haresh, deeply influenced by a lifelong passion for literature, drama (Theatre), and grassroots culture, and Jeeta, a compassionate teacher from Rajkot and Ahmedabad, both carried a sense of social responsibility shaped by years of direct involvement in Gujarat’s community activities. Their love for Indian values and their empathy for children set the foundation for something extraordinary.
In 2005, as an Ahmedabad-based couple, Haresh and Jeeta watched from their balcony as a new tower complex rose across the street. The daily routine of construction wasn’t just about bricks and mortar; it was a window into the reality faced by migrant laborers and their children. Those kids, spending their childhood amidst dust and danger, lacked even the most basic access to education—while, in stark contrast, children in private schools had every resource at their disposal. Jeeta, still working as a teacher, and Haresh, employed in the corporate sector, began to ask themselves how such inequality could persist, and what it meant for India’s future.
Their realization was profound: true change is not born from mere charity, but from perseverance, empathy, and a guided mission. Committing to this vision, the couple decided to rely solely on Haresh’s income, and Jeeta left her teaching job to devote herself full-time to children who had no school to call their own. This was the humble beginning of their movement.
They launched their very first initiative—‘Savera Site School’—right on the construction sites of Ahmedabad. What began with migrant workers’ children soon expanded to include kids living on footpaths, child rag pickers, and those struggling in urban slums. Others were inspired to join, and the journey of collective action and education gained momentum.
From those earliest days—organizing children’s film festivals, conducting counseling for learning disorders, and offering critical career guidance—Vidhyabharti Foundation was established as a beacon of hope for underprivileged children. Its name, blending “Vidhya” (learning) and “Bharati” (Indian culture), reflects a mission rooted in building a generation of children who are not only educated, but also connected to their heritage and values.
Today, the Foundation provides education centers to marginalized communities, backs bright students from underprivileged families for higher studies, and supports supplementary education. Through every program and every classroom built, the team doesn’t just teach—they build pathways, nurture dreams, and offer hope, transforming the lives of thousands one step at a time.
Haresh and Jeeta’s story is proof that ordinary people - when guided by heart, mission, and resolve, can help turn dust-laden playgrounds into stepping stones to a better future for India’s children.
